Mike Locksley has had back-to-back eight wins seasons, which is not horrible by any standards, especially looking at the type of program he was handed. However, can Locksley do much better than that, or is eight-win seasons his ceiling with the Terrapins?

There needs to be constant improvement for job security, especially with how competitive the Big Ten will continue to be with the addition of new teams. Locksley also lost a couple of pieces this year and did not do a lot in the transfer portal to help fill those positions like other teams in the conference have done.

The final thing that could cause Locksley to be on the hot seat in the 2024 season is his record in the Big Ten. He is 15-32 against Big Ten opponents, sometimes barely becoming bowl-eligible and getting half of the wins in non-conference play. Lockelsey needs to show improvement and not have the has already hit his ceiling at Maryland in order to keep his seat cool.
