The NFL has reinstated several players who had received indefinite bans for violating their gambling policy. According to Tom Pelissero, former Badger Quintez Cephus is one of the players now free to sign with any team.
Cephus was a standout receiver in Madison and was eventually drafted in the fifth round of the 2020 draft by the Detroit Lions. He had a few average seasons before being hit with an indefinite suspension for gambling on NFL games. In April of 2023, he received this suspension and ended up serving one full year before being reinstated. He was released at the time, so now will re-join the league as a free agent, available to sign with any team he chooses.
Cephus is only 26 so should draw some interest from around the league. In Detroit, he reeled in 37 receptions for 568 yards and four touchdowns. He finished his career at Wisconsin with 93 receptions, 1496 yards and 13 touchdowns.
