Former Badger Tyler Wahl has spent the last few months preparing for a future in professional basketball. The 6'9" forward has had workouts with the Milwaukee Bucks, Utah Jazz and Minnesota Timberwolves leading up to this year's NBA Draft which begins Wednesday night. Wahl spoke with KSTP’s Darren Wolfson about his expectations.
"There's a lot of things in my game I didn't get to showcase at Wisconsin," Wahl explained. Although he primarily played as a big man for Wisconsin, the Lakeville, Minnesota native actually mostly played point guard growing up. He's hoping to showcase some of those abilities at the professional level no matter where he ends up.
"Hopefully I get on a Summer League team. It's kinda up in the air until the draft and then things fall into place," Wahl said. "There's so many different options. You can go the G-League, you could do the two-way contract, you can go overseas...there's really no bad options."
Wahl isn't expected to hear his name called on either draft night, but anything can happen. If he is drafted, he will be the first Badger chosen since Johnny Davis in 2022. He's also open to playing overseas it seems, where his former teammate Brad Davidson has found success. The former Badger really just wants to play ball.
