Cornerback Zadian Gentry has narrowed his search down to five schools and listed Wisconsin as one of them. Gentry is a three star recruit from Texas and ranked as the number 46 cornerback in the 2025 class. His other schools to make the cut are his local team, the SMU Mustangs, along with Missouri, Baylor and Oklahoma State.
Gentry will have his first unofficial visit to Madison on April 22nd. His official visit will come on May 30th. He’s been in constant contact with the school though and it seems Bucky has already made a good impression.
“Wisconsin, they’re up there pretty high with Missouri and SMU...the communication they have with their recruits is on point...they’re really emphasizing how it’s not a monthly or weekly thing. They are making a constant impact and the more communication, the better I will feel about the school,” he told On3.
SMU will have a slight advantage during the rest of the recruitment process due to their proximity to friends and family, but it’s clear Wisconsin has made a strong impact on the young defensive back. According to 247Sports, Wisconsin currently has the number 20 recruiting class for 2025 and landing Gentry would be a big boost. Their current cornerback room is talented, and much deeper than last year, but also very young. If Gentry lands on Wisconsin it will be interesting to see how he fits in for future seasons.
