Wisconsin a Finalist for 6-foot-10 SEC Transfer
Still searching for a player to fill their 15th and final roster spot, Wisconsin was listed as one of four finalists to land Georgia transfer Frank Anselem-Ibe, Jeff Borzello reported Friday. The 6-foot-10 senior has narrowed his top schools to Wisconsin, Georgia Tech, NC State and Louisville and will announce his decision on Tuesday.
Anselem-Ibe is entering his fifth collegiate season, having spent two seasons at both Syracuse and Georgia. In 2023-24, Anselem-Ibe averaged 2.6 points, 2.1 rebounds and 0.7 blocks in 9.1 minutes per game, operating as the team's backup center. He hasn't attempted a three-pointer at the college level and is a career 63.2 percent free throw shooter.
Instead, the Lagos, Nigeria native makes his presence felt on the interior. Per College Basketball Scouting, 92 percent of Anselem-Ibe's field goal attempts came at the rim, many of which were on putbacks. He's a strong offensive rebounder and owns a 7.9 percent block rate -- a skill the Badgers could use after averaging the fourth-fewest blocks per game a season ago.
Anselem-Ibe was a former four-star recruit and was ranked the 26th best center coming out of high school, per 247 Sports. Now, entering his final year of eligibility, 247 Sports grades Anselem Ibe as a three-star transfer.
At Wisconsin, Anselem-Ibe would likely contend with Nolan Winter for backup center duties behind starter Steven Crowl. Anselem-Ibe's skillset compliments Winter's, with Winter being a capable three-point shooter who has difficulties defending on the block.
He would be the fourth incoming transfer for the Badgers, joining Camren Hunter, Xavier Amos and John Tonje as portal additions by head coach Greg Gard this offseason.
