Wisconsin Flips Louisville Defensive Lineman in Transfer Portal
After a long wait, the Badgers have finally landed a defensive lineman through the portal. Stephen F. Austin tackle Brandon Lane, who had previously committed to Louisville, will now take his talents to Madison.
This is a huge get for Wisconsin football and addresses a key need they had been looking to fill for awhile. The 6'3", 300 pound lineman had 45 tackles and 1.5 sacks last season and will have a chance to play big minutes along coach EJ Whitlow's defensive line. The Badgers have been needing more depth at the position and after losing out on the Jay'viar Suggs sweepstakes, Lane should fill in nicely.
The Badgers lost a lot of talent on the defensive line, and outside of James Thompson Jr. don't have a lot of big contributors. This was an obvious hole on the defense as the secondary and linebacking group are pretty well set. Lane could be an easy plug and play guy.
Lane's commitment to Louisville did not last long as Luke Fickell and company were not about to let this one get away. Less than a week after his verbal commitment, Wisconsin had flipped him.
After a brief stint at South Dakota State followed by two seasons at Stephen F. Austin, Lane will join the Badgers with several years of eligibility remaining.
