The Badgers and the Volunteers have only met twice in program history and never in the regular season. Both times Wisconsin has lost to Tennessee were in bowl games, the Outback Bowl and the Garden State Bowl.
The first matchup between these programs was back in the early 1980s when they met in an early bowl game, the Garden State Bowl, where the Volunteers won by one score to take the title 28-21.
The second matchup is more recent about 16 years ago back in 2008 when they lost in the Outback Bowl in a close game 21-17. The Badgers went into halftime down by one score and were able to hold the Volunteers scoreless int he second half. However, Wisconsin was only able to put up three points in the second half resulting in thier loss.
