Star cornerback Ricardo Hallman gave some insight into his thoughts yesterday on whether or not he would return for another season. The redshirt junior is weighing his options for returning for another year, or declaring for the NFL draft. Currently, Hallman says he's "up in the air" about returning, but would still walk on senior night regardless of his decision.
The defensive back had an incredible season in 2023 and led the nation with seven interceptions. He hasn't recorded one yet this season, but the main reason is that opposing quarterbacks haven't tried to target him very often. Still, compared to last season's All-American performance, his production this year of 14 tackles and four pass-deflections has been relatively quiet.
If Hallman does choose to return to the Badgers for another year, he would be welcomed with open arms. However, the corner is being projected as a mid-round NFL draft pick, so the allure to turn professional may lead him to turn his name into the 2025 draft.
With a big decision looming, Hallman will still walk on senior night against Minnesota with other players like Hunter Wohler and Jake Chaney. The Badgers will have a lot on the line in Friday's game including a battle for the Axe, and an opportunity for a bowl game.
