Football recruiting for the class of 2027 this spring has been a success for Luke Fickell and the Wisconsin Badgers. 247Sports currently ranks Wisconsin’s class 11th overall and fifth among Big Ten programs. A quick look at the recruiting class shows something that would make Barry Alvarez proud. Eight out of the ten top Wisconsin high school football players are committed to being Badgers, with the most recent one being top-ranked running back Kingston Allen out of Green Bay.

However, one cannot expect this 2027 class to remain entirely composed of Wisconsin high school stars. Eventually, the Badgers will land a dominant high school football player from outside Wisconsin. One possible future commit resides in the Grand Canyon state, playing on the defensive line at Basha High School in Chandler, Arizona.

Wisconsin makes the cut for three-star defensive lineman Anitoni Tahi

On Monday, Tahi announced his six finalists. The Badgers joined fellow Big Ten rivals Illinois, Minnesota, and Penn State, along with Big 12 schools Arizona State and Kansas State. According to his 247Sports profile, Tahi is scheduled for an official visit on June 12th, with defensive line coach E.J. Whitlow as his primary recruiter.

For those wanting to watch Tahi, his highlight film is available on Hudl. Tahi’s highlights showcase his quick get-off on the snap and his hand use to dislodge offensive linemen. In addition, we see some solid read-and-react reflexes from Tahi as he meets the ball carrier.

With this future Wisconsin Badgers recruiting class, there is budding momentum for 2027. Rebuilding that wall around the Badger state has been paramount to Luke Fickell’s recruiting efforts. Now that the in-state foundation is in place, it is time to explore recruiting gems beyond Wisconsin. One such prospect just might be rising defensive lineman Anitoni Tahi out in Arizona.
