The portal is about a week away from officially opening, but plenty of players start to get their name out there after their season ends. Robin Pingeton is set to reload the Wisconsin women's squad this offseason, using the portal, as there are a handful of seniors and graduate players departing. There will also be other players leaving for the transfer portal and a new opportunity.
One of those just announced today, Alie Bisballe, a 6'4" forward from Michigan. She's a sophomore and in her two years with the program, hasn't seen her role evolve. She went from 18 games played with 3.9 minutes per game as a freshman to 18 games played and 3.3 minutes per game as a sophomore. It's unsurprising that she would like to see what other opportunities are out there.
Thank you to the coaching staff and my teammates for this amazing opportunity. Thank you Wisconsin and the community for everything. I’ve been so blessed these past two years.❤️

With that being said I will be entering the transfer portal with two years of eligibility. pic.twitter.com/gNhUlKFqRd
Alie Bisballe is off to the transfer portal but gets a ton of credit for sticking it out

Bisballe is one of the few players who made the transition between coaching staffs. That's a huge credit to her name. She was recruited to the Badgers by Marisa Moseley and played for a season under her. Then, when Moseley departed for various reasons, Bisballe stuck it out with Pingeton.
However, it didn't look like Bisballe was going to be getting more minutes even next year. She had fallen into a "rotational depth" role, and that is where it looked like she would remain. Now, she's looking for a new opportunity.
She may not be the only player who decides to move on. In the college world, men's or women's, it's not uncommon to watch players move around. And coaches know they need to reload every year. In this regard, it's good for Bisballe to explore other opportunities in basketball as she enters her junior season. She gets a huge kudos for sticking it out and helping this team rebuild under Pingeton.
