The coaching carousel is going crazy. This weekend has featured not only the Lane Kiffin drama but a half-dozen other coaches being hired and fired. Sure, Wisconsin fans may wish they were part of the madness, moving on from Luke Fickell. But the stability has actually created a unique opportunity for the Wisconsin Badgers. The transfer portal will be even more insane than it normally is.
Each head coach fired will throw more players into the transfer portal. If Wisconsin was serious that they want to put a bunch of money into funding a top-tier team, they should have plenty of really strong players to choose from. From Ole Miss, UCLA, LSU, Kentucky, Michigan State, Auburn, USF, Penn State, and more. Throw in the regular rotation of the portal, and Wisconsin needs to capitalize.
The transfer portal is going to be insane and signing day is in a couple of days

Luke Fickell and his staff need to be working on prioritizing where they want to spend money, where the roster could improve, and as players jump in the portal to start contacting agents.
Chris McIntosh said the reason this year's team was so bad is that the roster needs to be upgraded. Now, it's time to prove it, and the changes that are happening around college football will allow the Badgers to spend and spend big on positions across the roster.
While the portal hasn't officially opened for D-1 programs yet (it opens on Jan. 2), it is open now for all programs that have lost their head coach, whether through being fired or moving on, and players from these teams are already jumping into the portal.
Oh, did we mention that the early signing period for football is on Wednesday? Wisconsin should also be grabbing recruits from all these displaced coaches. The window of opportunity is now; the coaching staff is not preparing for a game on the field, but a huge one off the field.
