The problem before Greg Gard is that he already has a ton of wings and guards. While he could feasibly take one or two more, he's already at six. Last season, Wisconsin planned to head into the season with seven scholarship bigs and seven scholarship guards/wings. That changed when Elijah Gray was dismissed from the team, and the Badgers went the whole season with seven guards and six bigs.
Gard typically likes a balanced roster, but right now, he has way more guards than forwards (the official Badger website lists only forwards or guards). However, the depth chart is even more revealing of the needs of the roster.

Greg Gard's priorities have to be in two main areas in the transfer portal
It's not as exciting as it feels like Wisconsin needs upgrades almost everywhere, but it is revealing. The top priorities for anybody who pays attention to Wisconsin basketball have to be at forward and shooting guard.
There also has to be depth at the bigs. Having only three total bigs and the next tallest person behind Austin Rapp is 6'6, Hayden Jones is not ideal. Thus, the depth chart reveals that Wisconsin needs to prioritize a scoring guard as the primary money spent. A backup or rotational forward, and then depth both at big man and maybe another guard, depending on how Gard feels about the freshman.
If Wisconsin ends up locking up Zavier Zens in the recruiting class, it makes it even more necessary to find another big. As that's one more guard that's most likely developing and on the back of the bench for next season.
Don't be surprised if Hayden Jones is starting where Andrew Rohde did last season. Nor if Austin Rapp is back to being a starter. That would make it so four of the five starting positions are accounted for: Foxwell, Jones, Rapp, and Winter. That shooting guard spot is going to be key, as every Wisconsin fan knows, but then Gard will turn to depth.
