The trait that has Jeff Grimes raving about Wisconsin's Billy Edwards

New offensive coordinator Jeff Grimes was brought in this offseason to completely rebuild a floundering Badger offense. Wisconsin was looking to get back to their roots as a powerful, physical team, and the quarterback to lead them is a newcomer as well in Billy Edwards Jr. The duo formed an immediate connection, and their determination to be the best has extended beyond just their time on the practice field.

In his sit-down with Big Ten Network, Grimes spoke about Edwards' drive to get better and his unparalleled preparedness, calling it "Better than any I've ever worked with", even to the point of asking for game plans that don't even exist yet.

"Even back in the spring and summer and we had a couple of days off before our next walkthrough and he's asking for the scripts already," said Grimes. "I hadn't even built them yet, give me a minute here!"

Edwards Jr. is working harder than anyone to be ready for week one

Grimes went on to say that Edwards Jr. prepares like no one else he's been around, and that his mind is a tremendous asset to the team. Learning a new offense can be difficult and time-consuming, but it would appear that the Maryland transfer is ahead of the curve.

After tossing 15 touchdowns last year with the Terrapins, Edwards Jr. now faces the challenge of reigniting a Badger offense that faces one of the hardest schedules in football in 2025. While the success may not come easily, it won't be due to a lack of readiness on his part. So far, he's done everything he possibly can, including hounding his coaches for scripts they haven't even made yet, in order to make this season his best yet.
