Ahead of a big contest between Wisconsin and Marquette in a volleyball match for the state of Wisconsin. The Big Ten announced on their social media account that Big Ten volleyball players voted on the toughest venue to play in, and the UW Field House won over Penn State, Purdue, and Nebraska.
They won't get to use that home court advantage today against Marquette, as they will be on the road playing in the Fiserv Forum. However, what makes the UW Field House so tough to play in is the fans that show up to each and every game. They also travel well, so a quick trip up to Milwaukee may bring some of that UW Field House magic with them.

UW Field House is the toughest place to play in the Big Ten
There's an argument to be made that Wisconsin volleyball has the best home court advantage in all of college volleyball. Notably, because Big Ten volleyball is consistently considered the best in the nation, Wisconsin has won the "nightmare" award according to its opponents.
The UW Field House will often sell out or get close to capacity for volleyball matches, which means 7,229 screaming fans are there to cheer on the Lady Badgers. It's the second-largest seating capacity on this list. Only Nebraska can stuff in more fans than the Badgers; the Cornhuskers' facility, Bob Devaney Sports Center, can seat around 8,300.
This makes it interesting that Purdue ranked third in this category, as their venue for volleyball is notably smaller than some of the others on the list. Penn State can bring about 6,000+ to the Rec Hall. But Purdue's Holloway Gym only holds around 2,288. There are times when they may move to Mackey Arena for bigger matchups, which can hold more than 10,000. That could be where the fear of traveling to Purdue comes from. Those matches in Mackey.
Either way, it's a huge honor for Wisconsin volleyball and the UW Field House to be the top-voted toughest volleyball venue in the Big Ten.
