The NFL calendar did not help Jim Leonhard land back in his home state, Wisconsin. It was said that there was mutual interest between the Green Bay Packers and Leonhard, but he couldn't interview while the Broncos were still alive in the AFC Championship, and the Packers grew impatient. Now, his options are much more limited. However, there is one fanbase that is desperate to see Leonhard hired: The New York Jets.

Social media is flooded with Jets fans who are worried the Jets will hire some terrible defensive coordinator instead of up-and-coming Leonhard. There's even an entire article titled, "Jets might actually have a chance at pipe dream DC candidate after all" on theJetPress.com about Leonhard. He's the "pipe dream DC candidate."

New York Jets fans want to see Jim Leonhard as their next defensive coordinator

Here are a few examples of Jets fans, anxious to see the Jets hire the former Wisconsin Badger (both as a player and a coach). The hope is that it will happen soon:

The fun part about considering Jim Leonhard as the Jets' DC is that he is also a former player for the New York Jets. He spent three years on the Jets, as well as stops at Buffalo, Baltimore, Denver, New Orleans, and Cleveland. For the Jets, he signed a three-year deal for $6 million to play for Rex Ryan (again).

In 2009, he was a defensive star for the Jets, and many of those New York fans will remember that year as he started all 16 games and recorded 66 tackles, 2.5 sacks, one interception, and one forced fumble. He didn't have the same success in 2010 as he was injured early in December before the end of the season, breaking his tibia.

For Leonhard it may not be the homecoming he was imagining, going to the Jets, but it is a fanbase that is desperate to have him.
