As fall camp kicks into gear, one member of the Badgers has been getting nominations for some high honors. As the preseason watchlists are steadily getting released, Wisconsin's punter is making a case for the best in the country at his position.

Bertram, who was just announced to the Ray Guy Award watchlist, is coming off of a quietly impressive 2024 season. While the season as a whole didn't go to plan, Bertrams ended up averaging 45.3 yards per punt, good enough for second in the Big Ten. What most fans will remember though, was his crazy, unplanned fake punt against Penn State that electrified the stadium. He can do it all, maybe even work his way up to the top punter in the nation.

Can Bertrams Atticus ascend to the best punter in the country?

Punting isn't glamorous, but it's a huge part of the field position game. Betram allowed just 99 return yards all season in 2024, despite the failures of the Badger offense to stay on the field, thanks to his pinpoint accuracy and impressive hangtime. The Australian native, who has legitimate NFL potential, dropped 36% of his punts inside the 20 yard-line while only having three touchbacks. He was a lone bright spot in a year that most would like to forget.

Bertram isn't a household name, most punters aren't, but he has become one of the most reliable players for head coach Luke Fickell. Now entering his third season, Bertrams has the potential to be the top punter in the conference, and maybe the country.
