Tyler Herro takes infuriating shot at Wisconsin 10 years after bailing on Greg Gard

Tyler Herro is known to have a foot-in-mouth problem. He doesn't mind trash-talking, taking shots, or even getting into altercations. Herro is on the front page of NBA news right now for getting punched by Bam Adebayo. There's a lot of drama around that situation, and some of it stems from another huge news story with Herro; he was traded from Miami (where Adebayo plays) to the Milwaukee Bucks. However, the shot he decided to take against Greg Gard and Wisconsin was frustrating.

In an interview on NBA League Pass, he was asked a bunch of questions, and the final one was, "Why did you decommit from Wisconsin?" You can see this in the video below at the 1:45 mark. He answered through a lot of laughter, "Just look at it like if I didn’t decommit, I most likely wouldn’t be playing on the Bucks right now, so it was just a business decision, and let’s just leave it in the past.”

Even the reporter realized he took a shot as he said (also through laughter), "Wow, Jimmy [Jackson] is not going to like that."

This is a wild accusation of Herro to say he wouldn't have made it to the NBA if he didn't go to Kentucky. Herro went one-and-done at Kentucky after averaging 14 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. He wasn't developed at Kentucky; he came in and left with the same amount of talent, and so his claim is that the Wildcats gave him better exposure and a chance.

Now that may be true, but at the time, Kentucky was the brand, and if you wanted to be one-and-done, you went to Kentucky. However, to claim that you wouldn't even be in the league at all if you had stayed home is ridiculous. But there is a rep that Wisconsin has with players going to the NBA. It's not like the Badgers have a long list of productive NBA players; it's pretty sad.

That NBA reputation does seem to be getting fixed a little now. There are more players fighting for NBA spots from Greg Gard's Wisconsin than ever before, with Micah Potter, John Tonje, Nick Boyd, and Steven Crowl all currently on an NBA contract or in the Summer League. Yet, none of them is Tyler Herro. He could have gone anywhere and jumped to the NBA; one year in Wisconsin would have created a legendary status for him. He would have been the hometown hero.

Instead, he continues to stick his foot in his mouth and make it so Badger fans continue to dislike him: "It was a business decision, and let's just leave that in the past." Says the guy who literally just brought it up and took a shot. Come on, man. You didn't have to say anything. Next time, maybe don't, as you have a lot of Badger fans that root for the Milwaukee Bucks.
