The Wisconsin women's hockey team is back in the NCAA's Frozen Four. They came into the bracket as the No. 1 overall seed and have arrived at this point with a bitter taste in their mouths from the last time they were here and came up just short of the trophy. For fans, players, and coaches, anything short of a championship this year will feel like a failure. That is how high the expectations are for Wisconsin women's hockey. However, it won't be easy. The final teams are all really good programs also ready to topple the giant of a program that is Badger women's hockey.

Updated Women's Frozen Four Bracket

The final four teams are Wisconsin, Minnesota, Ohio State, and Cornell. Wisconsin's only loss on the season came at the hands of the Buckeyes but the only way they see Ohio State is if the Badgers advance to the championship game. They first have to get through the Minnesota Golden Gophers. The Badgers have beaten the Golden Gophers five times this season between the regular season and the playoffs. However, they can't dismiss Minnesota or take it for granted; the Golden Gophers would want nothing more than to take out their rival on the ice.

Cornell is the only team Wisconsin hasn't seen this year, and the Big Reds are a really good hockey team. They've only lost four games all season and have the firepower to hang with any team in this field. It won't be easy for the Badgers to find their way through it, but they are the favorites for a reason.

Wisconsin plays Minnesota on March 21 at 7:30 pm CT in Minneapolis (which will feel like a home game for the Golden Gophers because, well, it is). The game will be on ESPN+ and will be well worth the watch.
