Watch Greg Gard deliver passionate message to his team after beating Arizona
Are you still jacked up following Wisconsin's thrilling 103-88 win over No. 9 Arizona on Friday night? We can confidently say that you're not the only one. Indeed, the Badgers are riding high after taking down Arizona and doing so in convincing fashion.
Wisconsin is 4-0 on the year and they're sure to be ranked once the new AP Top 25 comes out. With that said, John Tonje was electric and head coach Greg Gard did a fantastic job making sure his players were ready from the opening tip.
After things went final, Gard addressed his team inside of the locker room and delivered some passionate words for his guys. Thanks to the official team account on Twitter, we've been given an inside look of how things went down:
Greg Gard delivered a great speech right after Wisconsin upset Arizona in Madison
"Now, you have to accomplish something before you really, really believe. Do you see these guys' shirts? It says make them believe. If you can't believe in each other after that (win over Arizona) then you gotta check yourself. That shows you the potential in this room. Now you gotta take another step and that's when we'll find out - can we take another step after you experience some success. We're only (at) Nov. 15. We've got a long ways to go, but you'll only be able to go forward if you keep working like you have been."
Come on, that's great. Gard knew legendary Wisconsin players who led the program to back-to-back Final Four appearances were on hand for this one. He used them as a motivational tool for his current players to indeed start believing in themselves.
Arizona was a road favorite for this contest, but Tonje, John Blackwell and others didn't give a darn about that. They were focused on containing Caleb Love and goodness, they got the job done there. This is the kind of win that everyone inside of the locker room should be proud of. It also gives fans plenty of hope that this could be a memorable campaign for the Badgers on the hardwood.
