The Wisconsin Badgers picked up another Big 10 win against the Minnesota Golden Gophers in what can be described as the tale of two halves. While Wisconsin went into the locker room at half-time with the lead, it was a slim one. The Badgers were only up one point, but Wisconsin ran away with a second-half score of 50-30 in the second half. At the end of the game, when the dust had all settled, the Badgers won 80-59.

Wisconsin had major contributions from a handful of players to lead the surge.

In the post-game press conference featuring Steven Crowl, Kamari McGee, John Tonje, and Greg Gard, a similar song was being sung: sharing the ball and the depth of the team. Multiple players and head coach Gard shared how important it is for this team to lean on each other. The success of the program will come from the ability of any different guy to have a big night.

"They can't just key in on one guy and that's what is special about our team is that we have a lot of weapons. We are a pretty deep team so you never know who can go off and just having those six or seven guys sharing the ball and scoring the ball. The other team can't just zone in on one guy. "

The Wisconsin Badgers had three players score 15+: Steven Crowl with 18, John Tonje with 16, and Kamari McGee with 15. John Blackwell and Nolan Winter were close to double digits with nine and eight points, respectively. It isn't just the points scored; in the second half, there were eleven assists compared to only three in the first half. The important part of those eleven assists is that they came from seven different players.

Gard thinks a lot of the success hinges on his bigs being able to be aggressive and assertive in the middle. With Winter and Crowl holding down the paint, it opens up scoring for the rest of the team. The rest of the offensive playbook opens up.

"We can come at you in a lot of different ways, and different guys lead the scoring charge. When you have two bigs like Steve and Nolan, you can depend on them. That makes us really hard to guard because we can play a lot of different ways. "

Wisconsin hosts Ohio State on Tuesday at 8 pm CST. That game will also be on Peacock.
