The Wisconsin Badgers always have a few cool opportunities at Camp Randall when the stadium is not being used for football. Today, it's welcoming the famous rock band AC/DC. However, it may have come at a poor time as the air quality is terrible. This won't stop rock fans from descending on the stadium, but there are a few things you should know before you arrive, if you are one of those fans.

Schedule of Arrival:

The stadium is doing a decent job of allowing people to come throughout most of the day to mitigate some of the traffic in the area.
12 pm - Most parking lots on campus will be open
12:30 pm - Gate 1 ticket offices will open
2:30 pm - Bucky shuttle will begin
5:30 pm - Gates open at Camp Randall
7 pm - Concert begins

Weather Update:

Day tempature: All afternoon it will be in the lower 80s.
Concert tempature: 80 degrees (7pm)
Air quality: 228

The air quality throughout the day will be bad. It will hover right around 230, and that is considered "very unhealthy" by the Air Quality Index. The US General Warning says, "The air is very unhealthy for everyone. Everyone should consider moving their activities inside."

This obviously won't happen for Camp Randall, as the stadium is outdoors and AC/DC is going to rock all the way through the haze and wildfire smoke. So, how can you protect yourself or be safer while attending:
- Limit the amount of time outside. Maybe arrive closer to the time or leave a little early.
- Cut your exertion level, do less walking, use the shuttle, or park closer
- According to experts, "You might even want to reconsider spending extensive time outside at these higher levels, and don an N95 or KN95 mask if you do need to be outside (cloth masks will not protect you from PM2.5)."

Where did all this come from? Well, it's wildfires that are raging through Canada and blowing south. It's a problem that seems to happen most years, and it's something that many of us have grown accustomed to. However, don't take it for granted; breathing in a ton of wildfire smoke over a long period will do damage to your lungs and respiratory system. The air quality is actually worse today than yesterday; take that into consideration.

Pre-Party at Union South

One final idea that could help you tonight is to take in the pre-party at Union South. According to the Wisconsin Badgers website, "Why wait in lines when you can come to Union South and enjoy ample indoor and outdoor spaces to immerse yourself in music before your concert experience! Enjoy late lunch or dinner options at Union South while our DJ keeps the energy high."

This indoor option is a great idea. You get to the stadium early, park, limiting your air intake by walking to Union South. Eating, hanging out, and enjoying air conditioning and then you can jump back out as the concert gets closer. This would be a great resource to take advantage of!
