It's the offseason, so content is not exactly streaming down the pipeline for college programs, but one offseason piece always intrigues fans: Athlon's anonymous coaches survey. Each major conference gets their own version, the Big Ten's is called, "Big Ten Coaches Talk Anonymously About Conference Foes for 2025." It's an amazing series of quotes compiled about each and every Big Ten program just dropped under each team anonymously.
The article is full of great content, but as any Wisconsin fan would, scrolling all the way to the bottom to see what other coaches have said about the Badgers is the first priority, and it doesn't disappoint. In fact, it will either make Wisconsin fans roll their eyes, be frustrated, or laugh about how spot-on it is.
Anonymous Big Ten coaches and Wisconsin fans agree, the offense last year made no sense.
To be fair to Athlon Sports, we won't drop all the quotes from Wisconsin in here, there are four total, so here are two of the best (read the rest using the link above):
"“Nothing about the offense made sense here. [Phil] Longo moving on benefits everyone involved, and if they bounce back and become more of a modern version of that classic Wisconsin power run offense, you’ll wonder why they ever made the move in the first place.”"Anonymous Big Ten Coach, Athlon Sports
"“[Luke] Fickell is the guy, but the offensive issues have overshadowed the overall plan so much that it’s easy to see why some folks might lose faith. I think they just overreached on trying to modernize the program schematically.”"Anonymous Big Ten Coach, Athlon Sports
Notice a theme? It's a comical theme because it's the same theme that Wisconsin fans have been shouting all last season. 'What are we doing? This offense doesn't make any sense!' That first one actually made me laugh out loud because of how perfect it is. One of the other quotes talks about how Jeff Grimes is a great hire, and honestly here's to hoping so because I'm not sure I can read another set of these next year if the product on the field is still so hard to watch.
