Today, social media was flooded with Wisconsin football coaches posting photos of themselves with a graphic background that said "Wisconsin Blitz." Every single coach for the football program seemed to post one or almost all of them. For example, see Jordan Reid's below. The big question is, what is it, and what is happening?

What is "Wisconsin Blitz"?

Wisconsin Blitz is the new phrase the coaches are using to market their in-state push. This week, the coaches are on the road but throughout the state doing only in-state recruiting. Their plan is to go into Wisconsin high schools, meet with Wisconsin head high school football coaches, and even talk to in-state players. The coaching staff is working to build a wall around the state and keep the best high school players home.

Why are all the coaches posting about it?

In many ways, the Badgers haven't done well at in-state recruiting, and many fans have given them a hard time about it. In fact, 3 of the top 4 Wisconsin homegrown players have already committed to other schools for 2026. The marketing side of this "blitz" is that it allows fans to see that they are working hard on the in-state recruiting and allows in-state players to see it, too. Staying home and playing for your home-state school is a big deal and they would love players to see that and come to Wisconsin.

Who are the best in-state players?

In 2026, 3-star offensive tackle Gavin Meier has already committed to Minnesota. 3-star guard James Thomas is still undecided. 3-star offensive guard Samuel Simpson has given his verbal to Indiana, and 3-star wide receiver Brody Schaffer is headed to Iowa.

There are a few 3-star players behind them in 2026, but the big push for this Wisconsin coaching staff may be for the 2027 class, in which 24/7 Sports already lists two 4-star players and two 3-star players.
