With the initial craziness of the college basketball transfer portal finished, the dust has begun to settle, and the Wisconsin Badgers roster appears to be finalized — or close to that. However, many fans are still left underwhelmed by what Wisconsin has done, particularly at the guard spot, opening up conversation for another target being on the horizon.
Although buzz has died down for the most part, reports suggest that the Badgers are still well in the mix for Alabama Crimson Tide transfer Davion Hannah. The 6-foot-6 guard is currently heavily rumored to be headed to the South Carolina Gamecocks, but has yet to make anything close to a declarative decision.

Intriguing Flashes
Hannah appeared in just 10 games in his freshman season for Alabama, posting averages of 3.3 points, 1.9 rebounds, 0.8 assists and 0.7 steals a game. However, after being diagnosed with an undisclosed medical condition, the Milwaukee native was forced to miss the remainder of the season, invoking what will likely be granted as a medical redshirt season.

When on the floor, Hannah flashed immense talent, showcasing a two-way skillset that any team would be lucky to have. His downhill scoring ability is paired comfortably with a respectable outside shot that garners defensive attention. On the defensive side of things, Hannah is a pest, capable of being a team's go-to point-of-attack defender.
What he would Bring to Wisconsin
As previously mentioned, the odds of the Badgers landing Hannah are getting slimmer by the day. With that said, if Wisconsin were able to pull it off and bring him in, he would instantly be one of the Badgers’ better players. Wisconsin already has a hole at guard that needs to be filled, creating the perfect opportunity for Hannah to slot in and start from day one.

As of now, the Wisconsin roster lacks downhill scoring threats, particularly from the guard spot. Hannah would provide that constant rim pressure for the Badgers, along with being a good enough outside shooter to fit into the Greg Gard scheme. He would also act as yet another solid perimeter defender for Wisconsin, taking pressure off of big man Nolan Winter as a rim protector and allowing him to allocate even more energy to the offensive end, where the Badgers need him the most.
As of now, it appears to be a long shot, but if Wisconsin can pull it off and acquire Hannah, it would mean big things for the future of the program.
