With recruiting, anything can drop at a moment's notice and that's proving to be difficult leading up to Signing Day for the Wisconsin Badgers. On Tuesday, right before things were going to be made official, wide receiver commit Cameron Miller had a change of heart.
The 3-star wideout took to social media to announce that he has decommitted from Wisconsin and he won't be Madison-bound after all. Not only that, but 247's Brian Dohn wasted no time in putting a 'Crystal Ball' pick in for Miller to end up in the SEC to play for the Kentucky Wildcats.
WR Cameron Miller has decommitted from Wisconsin ahead of Signing Day
According to Dohn, changes in the Wisconsin staff led to Miller opening things up. Most notably, Fickell firing Phil Longo stood out. Several experts have since followed suit in predicting Miller, a New Jersey native, to end up with the Wildcats.
Miller was an exciting get for Fickell and the Badgers. Ranked three stars, he's also the No. 58 WR in the country and No. 12 player from New Jersey for his class according to 247Sports. Throughout his recruitment, Miller picked up offers from Wisconsin, Boston College, Georgia, Duke, Illinois and many others.
Kentucky just got the news that wide receivers coach Daikiel Shorts is expected to join Matt Rhule's staff at Nebraska, so Miller ending up with UK seems like a bit of a head-scratcher. Regardless, his mind is made up and Wisconsin won't be the program he ends up with.
This past season, the Badgers went 5-7, with Longo's offense leaving a ton to be desired. Fickell is now on the hunt for a new offensive coordinator, with a decision hopefully coming soon. While the loss of Miller at wideout stings, Fickell could potentially look to the transfer portal to find a different WR to bring in for 2025 and beyond.
