With several roster spots open due to graduations and transfers, the Wisconsin Badgers need replacements. They landed Australian pro Owen Foxwell before the portal opened, but have not yet secured a portal addition this offseason. However, a Miami (OH) player is reportedly visiting Madison this Wednesday.
The Wisconsin Badgers host Miami (OH) forward Eian Elmer for a visit.
A 6’ 6’’ forward from Covington, Kentucky, Elmer enters the transfer portal after three seasons in Oxford. The junior forward was the fourth-leading scorer on an outstanding RedHawks squad that finished 32-2 on the season, where he started all 34 games. On the season, Elmer averaged 12.7 points per game and was the leading RedHawk starter with a 42.9% three-point shooting percentage.
Over three seasons with Miami (OH), Elmer improved his points per game each year and maintained a three-point shooting percentage over 40% throughout his college career. This scoring ability and efficient shooting have drawn Wisconsin's interest. Benjamin Worgull of Badgers on SI reports:
“Sources indicate to Badgers on SI and Badger247 that the staff has prioritized Elmer for his experience and scoring acumen. Listed as a 6-6 wing, Elmer played 99 games for the RedHawks with 85 starts, including starting all 34 games last season for a Miami team that went 32-2 last season.”
Rivals currently lists Elmer as a four-star transfer and the No. 16-ranked forward in their transfer portal rankings. Should he commit to Wisconsin, Elmer would be the Badgers’ first transfer portal pickup of the 2026 college basketball offseason.
The Badgers have work to do filling out their 2026-27 roster. Getting Foxwell’s commitment was a good start, but adding Elmer would get the ball rolling for next season. Elmer adds the three-point shooting that Greg Gard’s offense loves to use. Let’s see if the Badgers can get the deal done this week.
