Wisconsin Beats out Michigan State, NC State for Newest Cornerback Commit

Just two days before the early signing period, Wisconsin has flipped cornerback Cairo Skanes from North Carolina. Skanes was originally committed to Miami (OH).

After losing two cornerbacks to the transfer portal this week in Amare Snowden and Jonas Duclona, the Badgers have added a new one, and landed their 25th commit for the 2025 class. Skanes is a three-star prospect, according to On3, and the number 173 cornerback in the class.

The 6-0, 165 pound cornerback from Charlotte should be a nice recruit for Luke Fickell and company as they looked to add another cornerback to fill out the 2025 cycle. Losing Snowden and Duclona put a serious dent in the depth at cornerback, but Skanes helps to fill the void.

Skanes visited Wisconsin the weekend of the Oregon game, but also had official visits scheduled with Michigan State and NC State in November. The Badgers won out, however, and he'll now unite with a class currently ranked 21st in the country. He'll join Jaimier Scott and Jahmare Washington as the other cornerback in the Badgers' class.
