The Wisconsin Badgers are still trying to make up their neutral site game they scheduled with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in 2020. The game was to be played on October 3, 2020, but COVID-19 canceled the game, and it got moved to 2026. The Badgers have recently announced that the game is moving from Saturday, September 5th, to Sunday, September 6th, at Lambeau Field. In a move that allows TV networks to take advantage of the weekend before the NFL season starts.

Wisconsin fans have mixed feelings about it. Some are excited about the change and even the venue, but many are not looking forward to it. They are not excited about a neutral site game on a Sunday when "college is meant to be played on Saturdays."

Wisconsin Badgers will host the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at Lambeau Field Sept. 6th, 2026

It's a relatively annoying idea from the get-go when Camp Randall is one of the best college football venues in the country. However, this is a makeup game from six years ago. While it could have been canceled all the way, half of the deal with Notre Dame had already happened when the Badgers played at Soldier Field in Chicago for the "Notre Dame hosts" part of this deal.

The marketing behind the initial tweet is interesting, with a "Badgers know how to show out on Sundays." It implies that Wisconsin knew the fans wouldn't be thrilled about the change, but it's also not super accurate. The Badgers are actually 1-1 on Sundays. More on that in a future post. For now, let's look at the bright side.

Wisconsin is undefeated at Lambeau Field. They've only played there once, but they defeated No. 5 LSU in 2016 with a final score of 16-14. This will be the second time the Badgers arrive at the home of the Green Bay Packers, and they will look to stay undefeated there against extremely strong competition.
