Wisconsin commit gives alarming Ole Miss quote that should worry Luke Fickell

This doesn't seem good for the Badgers.

This morning, something popped up about current Wisconsin commit Carmelow Reed, who is planning to visit Ole Miss this weekend. It isn't overly uncommon in the recruiting world for a commit to one school to still use their official visits to check out other schools. Sure, it's alarming, but it's not always a sign of a flip.

However, Reed's quote to Greg Smith of Rivals should cause some major concern for Wisconsin fans and Luke Fickell.

Carmelow Reed plans to visit Ole Miss this weekend as his recruitment may have opened up

This quote is not simply a, "Let me see what's out there." The line that should cause alarm and basically make a person think that he is going to open up his recruitment is, "I didn't want to sell myself short on recruitment." It is as if being committed to Wisconsin is selling his recruitment short. Yikes.

Carmelow Reed is a 3-star edge rusher from Olympia Fields, Illinois, who has offers from all over the place, including schools like Ole Miss, LSU, and Missouri. He committed to the Badgers back in the very early part of April and has been locked in ever since. However, Ole Miss, and specifically coach Randall Joyner, the defensive line coach for Ole Miss, did not give up chasing down Reed. That effort seems to be paying off.

His size and intangibles make him more desirable than you would think a 3-star rating would be. At 6'7" and 250 lbs, he is long and can still add muscle to his frame. He has natural instincts for the ball and can rush the quarterback as well as stuff the run. He's going to need a year to develop when he gets to college, but he could be a monster as he gets bigger and stronger.

This quote is not a good sign for Wisconsin, but hopefully, Reed's visit to Ole Miss will allow him to realize that Wisconsin is the best place for him.
