A Wisconsin fan favorite transfer from this offseason was Geimere Latimer II, as he brought some veteran experience to the cornerback room and had a star running back recruit as a brother. That brother, Amari Latimer, eventually committed to the Badgers to play alongside his brother.

Geimere felt like a potential replacement for Xavier Lucas, who was tampered away to Miami, and then Geimere felt like a replacement for Nyzier Fourqurean, who lost eligibility. However, he won't replace either; the plan was for him to become the starting slot corner, replacing Austin Brown, who is moving back to safety. The loss of Fourqurean, even if that comes to fruition, won't change the plans for Latimer.

Geimere Latimer II will be the starting slot corner and it would take a couple more injuries for that to change

Coach Paul Haynes spoke to the media the other day and talked all about the situation that they are dealing with at corner. The positions in his mind are more set than fans realize. He sees Rico Hallman on one side and Omillio Agard and D'yoni Hill splitting reps on the other side. The slot corner is for sure Latimer, and the only way that changes is with a couple more injuries.

Latimer does have some reps at boundary corner and could play the position, but they love the way he plays the slot, and he said, "That's an extremely important position in our defense." Which may be why they won't just trust it to anyone. He had their backup safety as the primary slot coverage last season, Austin Brown.

This answers the question that many fans had when basically the cornerback room took two major hits this offseason. First, with the nonsense of Xavier Lucas, and second, with the NCAA not deeming Nyzier Fourqurean eligible for this season. Or maybe better stated, out of eligibility. While that case is still pending, the plan is being put in place now for what it looks like without him.
