It took a little bit longer than expected, but the Wisconsin football team and Luke Fickell have finally landed the commitment from defensive lineman Jay'viar Suggs. At this point last offseason, Suggs had Wisconsin as a finalist in his recruitment, but he signed with LSU instead.
Suggs ended up being one and done in Baton Rouge, entering the transfer portal again. This time around, he not only had Wisconsin as one of his finalists, but he will be signing with the Badgers and making plays for Mike Tressel's defense in 2025. This is a massive get for Wisconsin, which continues to strengthen its D-line via the portal:

LSU transfer Jay'viar Suggs has committed to the Wisconsin Badgers
Not long ago, Suggs revealed that he was trimming down his recruitment and focusing on the following schools: Wisconsin, Tennessee, Kentucky, Michigan, Penn State, Oklahoma and Penn State. As you can see, the 6-3, 295-pound defensive tackle was receiving plenty of interest.
This past season for LSU, Suggs posted 10 total tackles and 2.5 sacks. He has one more season of eligibility left and he'll look to make a massive splash for the Wisconsin defense. Suggs is now the 18th known commitment for Wisconsin this offseason via the portal.
Matter of fact, Fickell has been focusing on bringing in plenty of experience for the defensive line, as Suggs is commit No. 5 at the position, joining Charles Perkins, Michael Garner, Corey Walker and Parker Petersen.
When Wisconsin wasn't able to sign Suggs in 2024, it was a bit of a bummer for the fanbase. However, in a surprise twist, he's going to end up being Madison-bound after all. With so many schools going after him, this indeed is a huge recruiting win for Fickell and his staff. People can't wait to see what Suggs can do on the field once next fall gets here.
