Xavier Lucas just did something that no one in the history of college football has ever done, and honestly, it may not work, but that remains to be seen. Lucas transferred from Wisconsin to Miami but never entered the portal. He tried, but Wisconsin didn't release him because of a contract he reportedly signed a few months ago. According to Ross Dellenger of Yahoo Sports, he simply just left for Miami, unenrolled from Wisconsin and enrolled at Miami and dared Wisconsin to stop him.
I think it's past time for another governing body. NCAA has lost it. https://t.co/IHiAoiVzfd

Wisconsin fans are having a field day with the news of Xavier Lucas transferring without ever being in the portal.
Wisconsin fans are handling it like, you'd assume, a mixture of bafflement, frustration, and trolling-level humor. There's a good riddance vibe with a mixture of "Wait, what?" However, that's probably how most college football fans handle it: confusion. One X user shared a joke: "Who needs a window when you can run through a wall?" Here's a compilation of Wisconsin fans' reactions to this weird, crazy, even dumbfounding news. If this is how Badger fans are handling it, imagine being Luke Fickell right now.
Bro stole and then just left 😭

Let’s Recap
— Wisconsin Recruiting (@BuckyRecruiting) January 17, 2025
1. Lucas signs to UW itself not the connect therefore legally binding any NIL he makes to Wisconsin.
2. He LIES about a “life threatening injury” abt his father just to try and transfer. Next, credible reporter said he spoke to his dad & never mentioned any illness. pic.twitter.com/j5ac8tCg94
But apparently he hadn’t talked to any schools yet lmao

At a minimum, I'd expect Wisconsin to sue Maimi and any applicable boosters/third parties for tortious interference of contract. I'd only consider taking legal action against Lucas directly if he has already been paid handsomely under the revenue sharing deal and is refusing to…

The last post details how some fans are like, "Bring it on." If Lucas is daring Wisconsin to sue or enter into litigation with either the NCAA or Miami, they may need to. It will be interesting to see what reaction Wisconsin has to this news. They have yet to say anything publicly, but they have yet to let up their ground. Like the last Wisconsin fan said, since they have yet to let up, now would be a strange time to all of a sudden let it go.
There's obviously a ton of lawyer involved with all this, and there's no doubt Wisconsin has consulted with their own set to consider all the ramifications of standing on this hill they are willing to fight on. This drama isn't over, and in some ways, it may just be beginning.
