This sure is going to help with the recent news that Will Pauling and C.J. Williams won't be back on the field for the Wisconsin football team next campaign. Indeed, some help is one the way via the transfer portal at receiver for the second straight day.
On Thursday, Jayden Ballard (Ohio State) committed to Wisconsin and Luke Fickell. On Friday, another great update arrived, with Idaho transfer Mark Hamper announcing on Twitter that he too will be suiting up for the Badgers in 2025. Hamper is coming off a breakout season for Idaho and he's now ready for a move to the Big Ten.
Idaho WR transfer Mark Hamper has committed to Wisconsin and Luke Fickell
This is a great get for the Badgers, as Hamper was a highly-touted target in the portal. In addition to Wisconsin, he also had offers from Washington State, USC, Arizona State, Utah and others. However, Fickell was able to post a solid recruiting win.
This past campaign for the Vandals, Hamper, a 6-2, 210-pounder, finished the season with 48 receptions for 966 yards and six touchdowns. This kid can fly down the field and he also has reliable hands. That's of course great news for Billy Edwards Jr. and Danny O'Neil, as one of those two will be the starting signal-caller next fall.
There's going to be a completely different look for the wide receivers room next season, but Fickell is doing everything he can to add some help. Losing Pauling and Williams stung, but fans are feeling a bit more calm now that both Ballard and Hamper will be on their way to town.
Hamper was a touted prospect, but his recent official visit to meet with Fickell and his staff appears to have sent things over the top. It's not hard to fall in love with Madison, we don't have to tell you that. Soon enough, we'll see how Hamper will be able to produce for the Badgers and their aerial attack.
