Yup, it's safe to say that Wisconsin football fans are not happy about this at all. The 2025 season is still more than five months away, but excitement for the new campaign is rising thanks to spring ball getting here soon for Luke Fickell and the Badgers.

It looks like the wait for Week 1 to get here has just gotten shorter, but not in a good way. On Wednesday, breaking news arrived that Wisconsin's season-opening matchup with Miami (Ohio) has been moved up to Aug. 28. The catch? It's a Thursday night contest for the Badgers, which no one wanted to see:

Wisconsin's Week 1 game for 2025 has officially been moved to a Thursday night

A quick look on social media shows that plenty of people indeed are pretty upset. Countless times, the Wisconsin faithful have let the university know that they strongly dislike games that are played on either a Thursday or Friday night. Nothing beats a Saturday in Madison, one of the best college towns in the country.

Originially, the meeting with Miami (Ohio) was all set for Saturday and local supporters were fired up for this new-look team to take the field. Yes, Wisconsin fans are still pumped for the new campaign to get here, but come on, a Thursday game? We can't stress enough how much of a bummer that is.

This spring, there are plenty of questions that must be answered for Fickell and his staff. At the top of the list is will anyone be able to seperate themselves in the QB1 battle? Billy Edwards Jr. and Danny O'Neil transferred in and both will be pushing one another for the starting role.

Plenty of people are also excited to see if true freshman QB Carter Smith can make some noise too. It's exciting that spring ball is almost here, but let's be real, Wisconsin dropped the ball by moving the season-opener to a Thursday night. We can only hope the same mistake isn't made again in the near future.
