The legendary sportscaster Lee Corso announced yesterday that he is retiring after nearly four decades of an incredible career. He is most notably famous for being part of the College GameDay crew and making his picks for the game by wearing a mascot head. He has put on the head of many mascots over the years but the best mascot head he ever put on was Bucky the Badger. There's nothing like Corso in a Bucky head.

The Wisconsin Football social media team sent out a congratulatory message on X, complete with those exact images. Lee Corso putting Bucky the Badger on to choose Wisconsin.

Lee Corso has announced he is retiring marking the end to an era of College GameDay

Lee Corso, who has been on College GameDay for 38 years, means that he has spanned multiple generations of football fans. He's been a constant for decades, and that will all come to an end on August 30th as he makes his final game-day pick. ESPN has announced that this will be his final onscreen appearance for College GameDay.

Since he has been around for so long and has endeared himself to many fan bases, there was a collective sense of sadness at the end of an era across generations and locales. Congratulations were extended and truly he deserves to sail off into the sunset. College GameDay won't feel quite the same without him, and at times last season when he wasn't there, it already felt like something was missing.

Cheers to a legendary career, Corso! You may have put on a lot of heads and made a lot of fan bases cheer for your picks, but out of all those picks and mascot heads, it's fair to say Wisconsin fans will miss seeing you in Bucky the Badger the most.
