Incoming freshman and international star for the Lithuania FIBA U20 team, Aleksas Bieliauskas, has finished his impressive run through the U20 tournament. He started the first game with a double-double and ended in the championship finale with a double-double. His performance in each game was often that of the best player on this team. He continues to show that he may be a bit more ready than anyone thought.

Lithuania came up short in the final, losing to Italy 83-66, but it may have been Bieliauskas' best game. They needed him to be big to get through Italy, who was the favorite going into the game, and he did his job, but it still wasn't enough.

The Badgers now have a better glimpse of what Aleksas Bieliauskas is bringing to Wisconsin

Bieliauskas and Lithuania played a total of seven games. He averaged 12.4 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 0.9 blocks. He totaled 87 points and 58 rebounds. It was an impressive display, and as he was often one of the biggest players on the floor and assuredly the biggest for Lithuania, they needed him to get boards off the glass and clean up misses.

Lithuania used a stretch style for their bigs and needed him for screens and the top of the key often. He shot 24 three-pointers over the course of the tournament. This shows the confidence they have in him to shoot from behind the arc. He made nine of them, giving him a 37.5% shooting from three.

While Greg Gard knew what he was getting in Bieliauskas, most Wisconsin fans had never heard of him before he committed. Now, after this tournament, there's a better understanding of what he brings to the Badgers. He plays similarly to Austin Rapp and will potentially see some minutes next season, but also looks to need a year or so to learn under Gard's development program for bigs.
