The Wisconsin Badgers men's hockey team has had a bit of an up-and-down season as they've rocketed up and down the rankings. However, the program seems to be heading in a positive direction, with many young pieces, and now, a huge commitment has been picked up from 19-year-old USHL star and Croatian-born hockey player Bruno Idzan.

Bruno Idzan a Croatian-born star in the USHL, has decided to commit to Mike Hastings and Wisconsin

Idzan has arrived with a bang in the USHL and on his new team, the Lincoln Stars. He has only been with the team since the latter part of December but already has 29 points from his forward position. He has absolutely impressed on his new team and is catching those who have played 20 more games than him in goals and assists.

In a release sent out by the Lincoln Stars, head coach Rocky Russo said, "I think it's a good fit academically and athletically for him. Coach Hastings and his staff have a great track record of producing National Hockey League players and that's the goal that Bruno has as a hockey player. In the meantime, getting a great education from a great university is first and foremost. Being able to play in the Big 10 against some of the best competition in the country is a no-brainer. I think for him, his choice was a great one, and we're excited for the Wisconsin staff to get a great player and an even better person."

Idzan will be working to get eligible and can join the team next season, and it's a big pickup for Wisconsin head coach Mike Hastings as he continues to build for the future. One Wisconsin commenter mentioned that it's the equivalent of picking up a 4-star commitment in football, this is a big deal.
