While the Badgers were losing 10-24 on the field to Michigan on Saturday, they also might have been losing one of their top commitments of the 2026 class as well.

Four-star recruit Amari Latimer, who has been committed to Wisconsin since June, took a visit to Ohio State for their game against Minnesota according to Steve Wiltfong.

Badgers may need to worry about losing top recruit to rival team

The visit doesn't necessarily mean anything is imminent for the Latimer, as it's become quite common for players to keep their recruitment open after their commitments. It does, however, raise some alarm bells as the Badgers continue to struggle in 2025, putting Luke Fickell and the entire coaching staff in an uncomfortable spot. Without a clear plan for the future, it's possible Latimer might start re-evaluating his options over the course of the next few months.

The Badgers are currently ranked last in the Big Ten, while Ohio State is the No. 1 team in the nation. The Wisconsin run-game, typically a strength of the team, ranks second to last in the conference so far in 2025. It's been a rough start for the 2-3 Badgers, who haven't shown a lot of progress to instill any sort of confidence in their recruit's decisions. It's the strange reality of today's game, but Wisconsin suddenly may need to ramp up their recruitment of a player who is already committed.

Latimer is the No. 24 overall running back in the 2026 class according to 247Sports, and the only running back in this year's Badgers' class.
