Wisconsin is on the Wrong Side of a Huge Recruiting Prediction

After de-commiting from Michigan last month, four-star quarterback Carter Smith included Wisconsin as one of his potential destinations. Although he hasn't made any announcements yet, On3's Steve Wiltfong, a well-respected recruiting analyst, has now projected the signal-caller to join Florida State.

Smith is currently scheduled to visit Madison for the Badgers' matchup against Oregon this weekend. But with the recent news of quarterback Tramell Jones Jr. announcing his decision to de-commit from Florida State, Smith's future with the Badgers is clouded even further.

Smith and Jones Jr. had both been committed to their respective programs since 2023, but now change is on the horizon for each. Wisconsin had been making a hard a push for Smith ever since he announced his decision to leave Michigan, but now Florida State seems to be the leader in the clubhouse.

It would be a huge boost to the 2025 class if the Badgers were to land Smith. He's the No. 14 quarterback in the class and would be one of their highest rated prospects at the position in years. The Florida native may opt to stay closer to home though, with an opportunity now available.

Time will tell, and the odds have tipped against them, but hopefully a strong showing by Wisconsin against the Ducks is enough to convince the young quarterback that he should commit.
