Wisconsin is in the market for a Nick Boyd replacement next season. If there were a flyer posting the job, it would say something like: Elite scorer, can make shots from every level, has the ability to take over games, can run a high-scoring offense, and can play defense on the other end. That's a big ask, and thus, the next point guard for the Badgers needs to be elite.

There may already be a name headed to the portal that will be listed as one of the top point guards available: Jackson Shelstad. Joe Tipton reported Shelstad's decision, and it was followed up by Shelstad himself on social media, declaring he plans to leave Oregon after three seasons.

Greg Gard needs to at least sniff around and see if Shelstad would be interested in staying in the Big Ten but coming east to Wisconsin. Shelstad was on a tear this season before injury. He was averaging 15.6 points and 4.9 assists per game. He can score at all levels but also loves distributing the ball. This season, he shot 31.4% from three and 84% from the free-throw line.

He's also got Big Ten and NCAA Tournament experience as a point guard for the Ducks and Dana Altman. He's also not scared to play defense and averaged nearly two steals a game this season.

The major concern for interested teams like Wisconsin would be the injury he sustained this season. After playing 12 games, he injured his hand and required tendon and ligament surgery, sidelining him for the rest of the season. There will need to be some medicals run up on him and maybe even a workout to see how he's shooting the ball post-injury.

If all that clears, he would be a solid addition, and while there may be a bidding war, Greg Gard was able to land Nick Boyd last season. Does he have another ace up his sleeve?
