Luke Fickell and the Badgers added former Western Michigan defensive lineman Corey Walker through the transfer portal. He announced his commitment on social media on Monday.

Walker, the 6-5, 270-pound defensive lineman, had 38 tackles and 5.5 sacks in 11 games last season for the Broncos. His size and athleticism make him a versatile chess piece for coach EJ Whitlow along the defensive front. He's the third defensive lineman Wisconsin has added through the portal this month along with Louisville's Mason Reiger and Tulane's Preston Peterson.

After losing James Thompson Jr. and Curt Neal in the portal, the Badgers were in need of some desperate help up front. They've addressed those needs immediately. Walker provides some size on the defensive line along with an ability to get to the quarterback, something that the Badger line has severely lacked the past two seasons.

After a relatively disappointing portal class last season, Fickell and company have already put together a strong group of players this year with a lot of time left to add more. Walker fills a huge need and will bolster one of the weaker groups of 2024.
