The Wisconsin Badgers are one of the teams that haven't given up on 4-star safety Mekhi Williams. Not only haven't they given up, but they are making a legitimate push to flip Williams from Florida State to Wisconsin. Williams has not scheduled an official visit to Madison, as well as visits to Florida State, Nebraska, and LSU. There is some real momentum that Luke Fickell may be able to pull this off.
Williams has been committed to the Seminoles since March 3 but hasn't really asked teams to stop talking to him, and he continues to stay engaged in the process. He told Zach Blostein of 24/7 Sports, "Me and Florida State are still locked in, but I'm going to keep my recruitment open and keep my options open right now."

Wisconsin is working to make a huge flip at a much needed position with Mekhi Williams

Nick Osen, one of the Badger beat reporters, says that Wisconsin is a "true contender" for Williams. The star safety from Florida has 23 offers and is one of the top safeties in the class. 24/7 Sports has him listed as the No. 10 safety in the 2027 recruiting class.
These are not usually recruiting races that Wisconsin and Luke Fickell are in. For top talent, especially in states like Florida, there's a big push being made to get Williams, and Williams is receptive to the push.
The 2027 recruiting class is already impressive for Wisconsin as it's a top-15 class in the country with already a few 4-star commitments in the fold. The majority are from in-state, but as the recruitment process plays out, more and more talented players are choosing to come to Wisconsin to join a loaded recruiting class.
The money must be pouring a little bit more than before because the Badgers haven't exactly proven their worth yet on the field, but the class is coming together in a wonderful way. Adding Williams would be a grand slam for Fickell.
