Wisconsin women's basketball locked in its Marisa Moseley replacement Tuesday, signing former Missouri head coach Robin Pingeton to the position.

Pingeton announced in late February that she'd be stepping down at the end of the 2024-25 season after 15 seasons with the Tigers.

The Atkins, Iowa native compiled a 250-218 record with Missouri, highlighted by four consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances from 2016 to 2019. She earned Naismith Coach of the Year National Semifinalist honors after the 2017 and 2018 seasons and, at the time of her resignation, Pingeton ranked third in career victories among active SEC coaches. Missouri produced three WNBA draft picks under Pingeton.

However, the Tigers have endured a losing record in four of six seasons since their last tournament berth and went 14-18 overall and 3-13 in conference play this year.

Pingeton will have plenty of work to do this offseason, as the Badgers have lost their top six scorers -- three to the portal and three to graduation.

Two-time All-Big 10 First Team player Serah Williams highlights those who've entered the transfer portal, as the junior forward averaged 19.2 points, 9.8 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game for the Badgers this season.

Starters Carter McCray (10.6 points, 7.1 rebounds) and Ronnie Porter (8.6 points, 5.1 assists, 1.6 steals) along with bench pieces D'Yanis Jimenez, Tessa Grady and Gracie Grzesk round out Wisconsin's portal departures.

While Pingeton's lack of recent success could appear troubling, her experience should assist in setting a new culture at Wisconsin after reports of emotional abuse and mistreatment surfaced during the final year of Moseley's reign.

For now, Pingeton must set her sights on the transfer portal, where she'll need to rebuild this roster from scratch. She will also need to hire new assistants, and her worry is that there isn't enough money for her to have the success she needs.
