Wisconsin news: Basketball staff change, chasing UCLA decommits, former Badger on IR

The Wisconsin football team is prepping for Michigan after coming off a bye week. Not a ton happened in the football program these last two weeks, as the Maryland game almost feels like a month ago. However, there is still a good deal of news happening around Wisconsin sports, featuring things like staff changes, football recruiting, and even some woeful NFL news for a former Badger.

Kirk Penney leaves Wisconsin while Brad Davison returns in a coaching shake up

Greg Gard announced that his staff was going to look a little different heading into the season as Kirk Penney opted to return home to New Zealand to be near his family. This is a big deal as Penney helped so much with the offense for Wisconsin. However, in the same announcement, Gard announced the return of former player Brad Davison to the coaching staff. UCLA is losing recruits left and right, Wisconsin is trying to grab a couple of them

In football news, Luke Fickell is now after two different former UCLA commits. They both recently decided to reopen their commitment after UCLA fired their head coach, DeShaun Foster. One is DL Yahya Gaad out of Medina, Tennessee. He's planning a visit to Madison during the homecoming game vs. Iowa.

The other is 3-star athlete Toray Davis. He is likely to project at the college level as a safety, but he's also a very good high school wide receiver. Wisconsin has recently offered him, but it's not known whether he plans to visit or not.

Braelon Allen seems destined for the NFL IR after suffering kick return injury

The woeful news of the week is that former Badger Braelon Allen seems destined for the IR. Ian Rapoport has already deemed it most likely after saying it was originally declared an MCL sprain. Allen does plan to seek a second opinion, but it doesn't look promising.
