As one Wisconsin quarterback enters the portal, a former Michigan quarterback commit may now be headed to Madison. Carter Smith, the nation's 15th ranked quarterback in the 2025 class, has begun to receive Crystal Ball and On3 predictions to land with the Badgers.

Steve Wiltfong of On3 has now put in a recruiting prediction for the Badgers to land the four-star prospect after initially predicting him to choose Florida State. At 247 Sports, the Smith-to-Wisconsin Crystal Balls have started to filter in as well. And while these aren't guarantees that Smith will choose Wisconsin, they are very strong signs that a commitment could be imminent.

It would be a huge get for a Badger program that has a nebulous future at the quarterback position after the firing of offensive coordinator Phil Longo. Smith was in attendance for Wisconsin's loss to Oregon, and had reportedly narrowed his search down to the Badgers and the Seminoles. But with the news of Florida State adding former Oklahoma commit Kevin Sperry, the likelihood of Carter joining the Badgers has increased substantially.

Luke Fickell landing 4-star QB Carter Smith would be huge for Wisconsin

Smith is a talented dual-threat quarterback who had been committed to Michigan since last year. He now could be the second Michigan commit to flip to Wisconsin after defensive lineman Jaylen Williams announced his commitment to Bucky this week.

According to the 247Sports Composite, Smith is ranked four stars and the No. 15 quarterback in the country. He's also the No. 26 prospect for his class out of Florida. Throughout his recruitment, he has been offered by more than 20 programs, including Wisconsin, Michigan, Florida, Boston College, Florida State and many others.

Michigan finally flipped 5-star QB Bryce Underwood this week, something they had been working on even before Smith backed off his pledge to play ball in Ann Arbor. Now, a decision from Smith is expected soon, and plenty of signs are pointing to him suiting up for the Badgers in 2025.
