Wisconsin QB commit Jack Sorgi is off to an incredible start to his high school season

There's a lot of talk about the impressive, video game-like numbers being put up by Wisconsin running back commit Kingston Allen. The player who could end up standing by him in the backfield, Jack Sorgi, is also off to a great high school senior season campaign. It may not be as video-game-type numbers as Allen, but it's really strong nonetheless.

Sorgi has played in five games this season, and he's sitting at 1401 passing yards, 12 touchdowns, 313 rushing yards, and six rushing touchdowns. Those are all impressive numbers and will remind someone of the current signal caller in Wisconsin, Colton Joseph. A quarterback who is not scared to call his own number and take off and run. Yet, the more impressive numbers may be the percentages.

In those five games, Sorgi is completing nearly 70% of his passes with a fantastic 124.3 quarterback rating. While his team is sitting at 3-2, his play has done what needs to be done to get Wisconsin fans excited about the future. His play is already up from last year. 24/7 Sports reports, "Led Tri-West to a 7-4 record as a junior. Completed 178 of 291 passes (61.2%) for 2,911 yards with 31 TDs and 14 INTs. Also carried the ball 40 times for 156 yards (3.9 YPC) and 2 TDs."

Next season could be an extremely crowded quarterback room for Wisconsin, though there could be some transfers in the offseason. However, if that doesn't happen, things get wild for the Badgers.

Wisconsin has zero seniors in the quarterback room. Colton Joseph is only a junior and will have another season next year. Ryan Hopkins is nipping at his heels as a true freshman, with Deuce Adams not far behind as a sophomore. Add in Carter Smith, who's only a sophomore, and Danny O'Neil, who may also only be a sophomore depending on how his medical eligibility works out. Sorgi would bring in another strong player who could be the next Hopkins.

Sorgi has a lot of Hopkins-style quarterback play in him, not just in style but in recruiting too. Hopkins was relatively underrecruited and came to Wisconsin as a 3-star quarterback but is far beyond his years. Sorgi has a similar path going right now out of Indiana. He's only listed as a 3-star player and only has four offers, but he continues to impress in the high school ranks.

He also comes from a really strong quarterback pedigree. Sorgi is a legacy recruit for Wisconsin; his dad, Jim, played for the Badgers in the early 2000s. There are some high hopes for what Sorgi will bring to Wisconsin next season, and then as soon as he can play.

While some may worry about adding talent to a loaded and young room, it's the best problem to have. It's a problem that elite programs have and one that Wisconsin needs to have at every single position, in an ideal world. Who knows how injuries and then camp competitions will shake out. The more elite quarterbacks to choose from, the better for the Badgers.

It's great to see Sorgi have an excellent senior season and that the 2027 recruiting class continues to impress and turn heads for Luke Fickell.
