The cat-and-mouse game of threats and frustrations over Xavier Lucas leaving Wisconsin to go to Miami has hit a boiling point. The tampering that took place and the Wild West of NIL deals have caused a perfect storm. Now, Wisconsin, with the Big Ten's help, is going after Miami. It is what Ross Dellenger calls a "landmark moment," and it truly is. The outcome of this case could reshape college football transfers forever.
Why? Xavier Lucas signed a NIL deal with Wisconsin, and Miami came calling. He tried to leave, but Luke Fickell and Wisconsin didn't let him, and then he just left anyway. He never entered the transfer portal.

Wisconsin and the Big Ten are taking Miami to court over Xavier Lucas' tampering
Wisconsin fans were beginning to wonder if the threats of Luke Fickell, Wisconsin, and the Big Ten were going to come around. Especially when recently Xavier Lucas' lawyer Darren Heitner took to social media to slam Wisconsin. If Luke Fickell had a case, then he had a case; he should have pursued it, and now he finally is. According to the report above, Wisconsin believes it's got a strong case:
"Wisconsin claims that Miami communicated with Lucas despite knowing he had entered a contract with the school, something it terms as “intentional” interference that “was not justified or privileged” and caused Lucas to “breach” his contract. "Ross Dellenger, Yahoo Sports
This lawsuit comes on the heels of conferences, teams, coaches, and athletic directors all calling for more rules and guidelines regarding student-athletes' pay. There are really no rules that seem to be enforceable, and the only way to get the NCAA to move is in court. Miami can probably claim that an agent isn't a school employee or coach and that Lucas' agent is the one they talked with. This is a gray area of tampering.
There's a lot that will come from this, but Wisconsin finally hit a breaking point, and now it will reshape college athletics going forward.
