Wisconsin shook up the college basketball world in a major way by toppling No. 2 Michigan on the road. Bracketologists were scrambling to their computers to figure out how much madness this created in their projections. Why? Well, before the game, Wisconsin was projected to miss the field by about every major pundit, and Michigan was projected to be the number one overall seed.
In other words, Wisconsin was considered a very mid-level team, and Michigan was considered the best team in all of basketball. Now, with just one win, Wisconsin is flying up the bracket rankings, while many are trying to figure out how much that affects Michigan's projection.
Per @CBSSportsCBB Bracketology, Wisconsin went from outside the field to a No. 8 seed with its upset win at No. 2 Michigan.

Wisconsin with one win has drastically improved their tournament resume

Wisconsin needed this win badly to help their cause, turn the season around, and get a quad-1 tournament win. The Badgers had yet to have anything better than a quad-2 win. Wisconsin, before beating Michigan, was sitting at 0-5 in quad-1 games and 10-0 with any other quad. They were bordering on having a resume like North Carolina in 2025, when they really shouldn't have made the tournament, but did.
However, the win over Michigan not only gave them a quad-1 win, but it also gave them the literal best possible resume win. The Wolverines were a NET 1 team, and it was a game on the road. Those two factors make it impossible to have a better win on your resume.
Michigan will be fine; they will probably still end up as a 1-seed, but what it did for Wisconsin was enormous. Going from out of the tournament altogether to firmly inside the bubble.
This all came at an opportune time for Wisconsin, as they may not have another quad-1 opportunity until February, when they take on Indiana. If the Badgers handle business the rest of January, their resume will look pretty good come February.
