The Big Ten Network asked the star Wisconsin players at the Big Ten Media Days which win they could guarantee on their guantlet of a schedule and all of them answered: the Minnesota Golden Gophers. The hate is real.
The rivalry hate runs deep with the Wisconsin Badgers and the Minnesota Golden Gophers. It's the oldest college football rivalry in the nation, and both teams think about beating the other more than they feel about beating any opponent. At the Big Ten Media Days, Billy Edwards Jr., Rico Hallman, and Jake Renfro sat down with the Big Ten Network to talk all things Wisconsin football. When the schedule came up, they were curious which game the players could guarantee would be a win. The hate overtook the reality, and you have to love it.
When asked for onegame in which they could guarantee a win, ALL of Wisconsin’s players picked Minnesota.

That’s how you know the hate is real. Minnesota/Wisconsin is one of the greatest rivalries in major college football. Period.

Minnesota is the guaranteed win according to Wisconsin's stars
The Wisconsin Badgers lost to the Golden Gophers last year, and it was the first game circled by the Badgers for next season. The problem is that they will need to wait until the final game of the season to play in the game to win the Paul Bunyan Axe. Wisconsin vs. Minnesota takes place on November 29 at Huntington Bank Stadium.
If you trace the rivalry all the way back to the inception in 1890, the two teams are sitting deadlocked at 63 wins apiece with eight ties thrown in there. However, since 1970, the rivalry has been heavily tilted in Wisconsin's favor, with the Badgers holding a 36-19 lead. From 1990, it became even more one-sided, with the Badgers winning 26 games to Minnesota's nine.
This hasn't diminished the hate, and with Wisconsin experiencing a dip in overall success, and Minnesota finally having a somewhat competitive Big Ten team. The rivalry feels as strong as ever, and the comments from the Badgers only confirm this.
