Wisconsin football has picked up another verbal commitment for the 2026 recruiting class, this time 3-star DB Zachary Taylor out of Texas. Taylor picked the Badgers over Texas Tech, TCU, and Utah, among many others. This is a big addition for Luke Fickell and the Badgers.
Taylor had just gotten off his visit with Wisconsin over the first weekend of June after visiting Texas Tech the weekend before. That visit was enough to impress the Texas recruit to leave the state and come to Wisconsin. Making him the second defensive back recruit in the 2026 class. He is joining fellow commit Carsen Eloms in building that future of the defensive back room.

3-star DB Zachary Taylor has committed to Luke Fickell and the Wisconsin Badgers
Zachary Taylor is listed as 6'0" and 182 lbs and has played all the defensive back positions in high school. While he's listed as a cornerback, he may end up being a safety in college. He has impressive coverage ability but can fly around the field in a similar vein to a Hunter Wohler.
Here is a snippet of what 24/7 Recruiting Analyst Gabe Brooks said about him:
"Shows encouraging tackling conviction and production in that category. Knows how to crowd the catch window. Ideally would increase impact playmaking ability in regards to ball production on the stat sheet. Boasts significant snaps at corner and safety and could potentially serve as a chameleon in a college secondary. Projects to the high-major level and could possibly develop into a pro prospect."Greg Brooks
This is now Luke Fickell's twelfth commit in the 2026 recruiting class, and the timing is excellent, as Fickell will be serving a couple of weeks of suspension for recruiting violations in the 2023 time period. When Wisconsin made calls to recruits about five days too early and self-reported the incidents, he had to not contact any recruits from June 15 to June 21.
